Pet Wellness Exam Schedule

For most adult pets, a yearly exam is what is suggested. If your pet is young, then the visits will need to be more frequent. Geriatric pets may also be on a more frequent schedule. Our veterinarian will set up a schedule for you so that you are always informed about what is best for your pets.

Annual Exam

During an annual exam, our veterinariain will do a hands-on exam of your pet to check for any abnormalities. We will look into your pet's ears and mouth and listen to its heart, lungs, and bowels. Your pet will be weighed and if the weight is an issue, solutions will be discussed. If any dental issues are detected, treatment recommendations will be made.

Vaccination

Vaccinations are part of wellness exams. This is one reason why puppies and kittens will see the veterinarian more in their first year than they will after that. Some vaccines are mandated by the state. In California, it is required that dogs be vaccinated for rabies by three months old. There is no requirement for cats to be vaccinated. Part of your discussion with your vet will be the necessity for any of the lifestyle vaccines that should be part of your pet's yearly schedule.

Spaying and Neutering

Spaying and neutering are good for your pet. It helps them to have a longer and healthier life. It is not a cureall for behavioral issues, but it certainly helps with some issues related to mating. Unless you want to have, love, and care for a litter of puppies or kittens, make sure you get your pet spayed or neutered on the schedule recommended by our veterinarian.
